National Research Institute: Conference on Bougainville Referendum

5 June 2018 to 7 June 2018
at National Research Institute

The Papua New Guinea National Research Institute (PNG NRI) is hosting a National Conference from the 5th to the 7th of June 2018 in Port Moresby on the Bougainville Referendum.  The conference theme is "Implementation of the Peace Agreement and Implications for the Referendum."

The three day conference will be held one year out from the Referendum Target date of 15th June 2019.  The planned conference will debate the progress made in implementing the Peace Agreement and discuss implications for the impending Referendum.

The PNG NRI Council has deemed the Bougainville Referendum as an event of national significance.  In holding this conference, the Institute is providing a neutral venue for the leaders from PNG and Bougainville, plus the international parnters, to discuss and debate issues that need to be considered in the preparations for the conduct of the Referendum and the implementation of the Referendum Outcome.
