The G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation, and played a key role in coordinating the international response to the global financial crisis.

Membership of the G20 provides Australia with an opportunity to help shape the global economic environment. Understanding the institution, and Australia’s role in it, is key to getting the most out of this membership.

The Lowy Institute’s work in this area, which is currently focused on Australia’s term as chair of the G20 in 2014, is directed through the G20 Studies Centre.
