Join us on the evening of Tuesday 7 May to mark the Port Moresby launch of the Lowy Institute 2023 Aus-PNG Network Emerging Leaders Dialogue Outcomes Report, First Nations Foreign Policy: Strengthening Australia-PNG Ties.
Featuring a keynote address from Ms Jacinta Warakai-Manua, Acting Secretary of the PNG Department of International Trade and Investment, and followed by a panel discussion with 2023 emerging leaders, we will discuss how First Nations foreign policy can bring the two nations closer together.
From indigenous-led initiatives in international trade and business, to partnerships bridging traditional knowledge with contemporary practice in education, healthcare, sports, climate change, environmental management, and other sectors, First Nations foreign policy can be a transformative force with the potential to elevate relations between Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Civil society, the business community, and educational institutions will be the drivers of closer First Nations ties between our two countries. But the convening power and support of both the Australian and PNG governments for these efforts are crucial to their success.
Please join us as the Aus-PNG Network Emerging Leaders explore these issues and more.
There will be an audience Q&A, offering attendees the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers and contributors to the report.
Free copies of the report will be available to guests on the evening.
The event will be chaired by Mihai Sora, Aus-PNG Network Project Director at the Lowy Institute.
We are proud to partner with the Young Professionals Network of PNG for this launch.
